Nicolas Oesinger studied Eastern European History, International Relations and RussianLiterature at the universities of Zurich and St. Petersburg.
Having travelled extensively in Eastern Europe during the 1990’s, he used his extensive contacts to open a boutique travel agency (in parallel with his studies) which specialised in this region. He graduated with the highest distinction in 2000 on the subject of the emergence of small and middle enterprises in the RussianFederation. His career started with the highly acclaimed GraduateTrainee Programme of UBS, which consisted of “learning on the job” at the bank’s private banking unit for Russian clients, attending courses and completing exams in economics, stock evaluation, fixed income, FX, portfolio theory, portfolio management and sales as well as internships with the economic research, advisory and credit departments and the investment banking division in London.
After this programme, being ready for business, he successfully built a substantial client book at UBS Wealth Management’s ultra-high-net-worth department from 2002-2007. There upon, from 2007-2017, he developed as team head the business with Russian clientele for a mid-sized Swiss bank.
